Citing her linguistic blunders as evidence of inexcusable hebetude, critics regularly announce the death of her political career, sometimes even claiming to hear plangent funeral bells toll in her name, but the candidate always achieves a palingenesis, rising again and exciting her constituents by promising to defend them against new assaults on their rights, most recently that of tmesis, a sacred and unrefudiable American right which, she reminds her freedom-loving followers, “is guaran-damn-teed by the constitution!”
