When I first clapped eyes on my fiduciary kipping on the empty fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square, my inheritance serving him as a pillow, it hardly occurred to me that he might (as he later argued) be representing a living monument to the government's comatose trusteeship of the kingdom's wealth, and it was only thanks to my lowly stature and innate mansuetude that I did not give him a swift kicking there and then.
