Quandary Resolution 2220
kip, fiduciary, plinth, mansuetude
Clearly, haughty farmland fiduciary (‘taxman’ to the peasants) Van Stopgh loathed Van Gogh for the artist’s symbolic denigration of the new Dutch urbanity - its brooding disquietude, grand plinths propping hero statues, buckled leather boots – all via painted contrasts of the peasantry’s bucolic mansuetude, midday dreamy kipping against golden haystacks, and their sculpted ligneous shoes, which Van Gogh honored as, “the plinths of the peasantry, true fiduciaries of our heritage.”
