Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 2357
tetchy, cutaneous, vicissitude, doppelganger
“A doppelganger, you say?!”, Detective Abernathy scoffed at me after the old lady had correctly identified me in a police lineup as the man who had snatched her purse away, “through all the vicissitudes of my dealing with suspects over the years, I have to say I have never heard of such an interesting defense”, and then getting increasingly tetchy, he added, pointing to my cheek, “and what about this cutaneous scratch she says she inflicted on you during the struggle? Do you have a fancy German term for that too?”
