Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 2378
pasticcio, to death, harbinger, buss
And as for what we now call “the departure of the busboy,” that operatic evening unfolded in a pasticcio of styles from slapstick to horror, beginning with our courteous attendant's accidentally spilling a not-insignificant volume of artisanally handcrafted effervescent mineral water (nearly $5 worth) into the guest of honor's gutter-shaped cocktail hat – a mere harbinger of the increasingly tragic slips that were to come – and ending in a fatal incident in which the poor busboy (by now quite sullied with bruises) knocked the entire banquet table over so that it whipped upright and kissed him in the forehead, literally bussing him to death, if will believe it.
