Though the photographer's “Blueprint” collection was well received (judging from reviewers' prolixity on that body of work) he considered the cyanotype as a merely ancillary member of his repertoire of photographic processes and he was always frustrated that he could not tone his cyanotype prints to obtain the deep ebony possible with gelatin silver.
