Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 2575
lapidary, nidify, billion, kismet
Sooner or later, even the most devoted lapidary feels the need to put away the tumblers and cabochons, the faceting machines and diamond abrasives--yea, even the very cleavers themselves (which, if you want to know, rely on the planar weaknesses of chemical bonds in the crystal structure of minerals), and settle down to the building of the proverbial nest; and I had always had the curious feeling (traced by me one day, as I wandered through the halcyon labyrinth of an opium-induced reverie, to a recurring childhood dream, in which I played chess against a leprechaun, and the Hibernian faery won by cheating, and then did this maddening little triumphant caper) that after the cutting of my one-billionth gem, my own kismet would finally assert itself, and I would set myself in earnest to the nidifying interlacement of the proverbial twigs, and commence without further ado the laying and cultivation of some serious proverbial eggs.
