Charlie hoped his fourth wife would show an interest in “building a nest,” and he possessed the funds to support an extravagant interpretation of that project, but had he known that kismet would bring him to wed the likes of Dove, a rather troubled ornithology enthusiast who took the concept of nidification to lapidary extremes (with emerald-studded twigs, she literally thatched the bedroom window dressings) he might have chosen another way to let his billions be squandered.
