After the judges exited the agriculture annex, the triumphant younger grower’s team seemed as pugnacious as their defeated older rival when, due to the proximity of their display booths, retaliatory lobbing of pepos at each other over a few aisles commenced as symbolic of the dismal lack of lucre from exhibiting cucumbers, melons and squash at the state fair.
