Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 2812
poetaster, petrichor, factoid, animalcule
They're dubbing me an inferior poet, As if I didn't already know it - No factoid this, invented slur, For truth it is, I'm known to err, Being nought but a mere poetaster Who oft the virgin leaf doth plaster With words he don't quite understand (Words rarely spoke in our fair land) Like 'petrichor' to describe a pong That follows rain afore ere long When it's been rather hot and dry; Or 'animalcule', that poor wee beastie So hard to descry by naked eye Being in bodily bulk the very leastie; So, much as I would like to contest a sland'rous factoid I have to allow it, though it unsettles my customary sang-froid.
