Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 2990
avocation, thoroughfare, hard-boiled, stonewall

In my avocation as a tough-as-nails, hard-boiled private detective, I sometimes have to kick ass (or arse, if it's a UK case) to get results: like the time I was grilling "Stooley" Snitchmeyer, the informant down by the thoroughfare, and I needed information fast, but the little rat was stonewalling me, so I had to give him a quick patella to the yarbles to jar loose his confession (it didn't work--he crumpled into a sullen fetal ball--so this probably wasn't a good example, but trust me: usually, kicking ass/arse produces results).
