Quandary Resolution 2992
avocation, thoroughfare, hard-boiled, stonewall
Shortly before her bloody murder, the victim Mary had taken up the strange avocation of standing outside the alley's stone wall and selling hard-boiled eggs for a penny each to the homeless on the thoroughfare, but when a hard-boiled, less than homey, detective was appointed to resolve the case, he was so thorough and fair that he gave up his vacation and stonewalled all who egged him on, even if they tried to soothe him with red rum or a bloody Mary.
