His day had gone widdershins after the keening of a murder of crows obsessed with finding a hearty meal and pecking around the cairn which had arisen near the corner of the house had alerted the authorities to the whereabouts of his wife, who had been immured in the rocky garden after her final domestic transgression --  serving him yet another cup of lukewarm coffee – which had resulted in a truly vesuvian response rather than the slow “count to ten” which had been recommended by his anger management counselor.
