Quandary Resolution 3517
poseur, thin-film interference, catercorner, burled

The elegantly dressed man in the top hat and brocade waistcoat, sitting at the burled redwood table catercorner from the town’s popular watering hole, was calling out to customers as they exited and using his charisma to sell them admission tickets to the tent behind him which purported to house one of God’s miracles, but this gentleman was actually a poseur, a sometime dishwasher whose customers were lining up to view an example of thin-film interference – a rainbow seen in a gasoline slick floating on a mud puddle.
