This case was definitely what I needed to vindicate my return to police work and reinstatement as a detective – no bluffing was necessary with such an obvious clue left by the murderer, and since Inspector Lestrade was too obtuse to see that 24D was crosswordese, I quietly stepped away from the crime scene to pull my copy of the daily Times from my knapsack and turned to the daily puzzle section.
