Quandary Resolution 3792
foursquare, plangent, accident, altiloquent

The Reverend Doctor J.C. Child was full of missionary zeal and altiloquent talk about “raising up the noble savage, who can only reach his or her full potential by being taught the Christian ways of white men and women”, and it was no accident that he remained foursquare in his resolve to remove native children from the squalor of their homes on the reservation and send them off for proper schooling, despite their plangent cries and frantic attempts to grasp at their mothers’ skirt hems or cling to their legs.
