Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 3924
billet-doux, badinage, sciential, ectopic

I had every intention of writing my sweetheart a heartfelt billet-doux, but one drink led to another and my pen lost its way, so that after seventeen pages of rambling badinage and an overly-sciential tone (I actually used the word ectopic in a love-letter, if you can believe that), the missive ended up offending rather than seducing my beloved Hermione; and as a consequence I was obliged for an entire fortnight to take up lodging with our three pugs (Gandalf the Grey, Oprah, and Joey Buttafuoco), our five hedgehogs (Larry, Curly, Moe, Shemp, and Arsenio Hall), our six Shetland ponies (Brutal Bill, Old Fatty Lumpkin, Biscuits 'n' Gravy, Shadowfax, Lord o' th' Dance, and Mel Tormay), our baby rhinoceros (Cyrano de Bergerac), our seven tapirs (C-3PO, Audrey Hepburn, Combat Carl, Cheech, The Artist Formerly Known as Prince, Lieutenant Uhura, and Kevin Kline), and our "fleet" of three carrier-pigeons (Punctual Pete, Tardy Marty, and Laid-Back Lenny); as for our ridiculously overweight giraffe Frodo, he had just been set free by the nefarious Fusco Brothers, and the zany spree of madcap adventures detailed in my best-smeller Fat Giraffe About Town had already been set in motion.
