The ukase read aloud to the assembled crowd produced no effect, as no one seemed to comport, not even the herald himself, who intermittently sank into hesitant ratiocination while reading and evidently struggled with the awkward wording of the document, confusing the public with abrupt stops and disruptive epanorthoses.
