Sententious is the word I have heretofore associated with Jack, given the terseness of his correspondence with me, and so I was startled to discover upon my recent visit to his home that he is decidedly more liberal with trinkets and baubles than he is with words, so profligate in fact that when I walked into the guest room I feared that the floor itself was not crepitating, but that all the noise was coming from kitsch that had somehow crawled under my feet.
