Quandary Resolution 4195
pangloss, insensate, hew, veloce

Paul Bunyan was a giant of a man who could hew a whole forest in a day – veloce come un razzo, or fast as a rocket, as the Italians might say – and many environmentalists began to feel that he was insensate about the plight of the planet, but although his ax was razor sharp, Paul himself was a bit dull -- a simple pangloss who thought that the trees were endless and couldn’t possibly be lost forever.
