The native son who was our representative in the legislature was not known for being cautelous, and we were all pretty sure that he was in cahoots with certain criminal elements, so after we refused to pay local gang members for “protection” and our town water pumps went kaput, all thoughts turned to him as we wondered from whence this threat to our existence had come.
