On one hand, her support of climate change theory, which predicted a world left devoid of people, animals, and most plants except a few hardy trees and other xerophytes capable of living in a barren and nearly lifeless world, yet on the other hand, her complete rejection of the dire predictions based upon the end of the b'ak'tun, which offended a belief many new agers held true and dear, unleashed a public counterblast, with loud aspersions labeling her inconsistent, impolitic, and dangerously untrustworthy.
