The Georgia politician was trying to drum up support by mentioning a positive local economic indicator, but the rally jumped the shark when the comments were misconstrued as an eggcorn about car sales “in Decatur”, and the ephemeral enthusiasm for his cause – influenced early on by free coffee and donuts, was soon dampened by an umber of discontent cast by the former automobile industry workers in the crowd.
