The beveled edge of the mirror split her reflection and made the side of her face look odd, reminding her of a visit to the Fun House at the county fair when she was a kid, giving her a chance to zombie out and daydream for a moment, and relieving her of the stress of her job as a crusading suffragist -- until she was jolted back into the real world of home life by a small, shrill voice begging for a piggyback ride.
