Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 4833
impute, hue and cry, caterwaul, allochthonous

Were you to arrive today from the time of the previous administration, the current caterwauls of congress and the press imputing the president for the “scandal trifecta” would astound as much as grate on you, for back then, no hue and cry, not even a peep was to be heard from them concerning: the Iraq War, the debt and deficit explosion, the Patriot Act’s axing of the First Amendment or the thirteen attacks on US embassies and consulates abroad; it seems now as if they have all just discovered some unfamiliar, allochthonous creature from afar, when in reality we are simply witnessing but shadows of an autochthonous beast with which we are all too familiar, despite the feigned surprise and hypocritical outrage.
