The sextant, though an accomplished zither player, had Van Gogh’s ear for music when it came to bell ringing and secretly subcontracted the sonorous task to a young savant who achieved a his nonpareil tone by running headlong into the bell; swoopskate one Sunday morning the sextant decided to espy the performance but so startled the performer that he missed a step and plummeted to the piazza below, and, when ask to identify the young man the Sextant replied, “I never knew his name but his face sure rings a bell.”
