Translucent dulse, clinquant on the rocks at low tide, requires harvesters to clamber over the exposed slippery stones where the greater risk is not even of a conventional baptism by water, but more apt to be on summer afternoons a baptism of fire, when the fierce thunderstorms in the Bay of Fundy make astraphobes of even the bravest.
