The captain was not pleased when his attempt to take a bite of his meager deskfast was interrupted by his daughter, come to snivel about some sort of frippery she had seen in a shop ashore, and him with such urgencies to contend with, such as the possibility of his ship becoming a lazaretto now that a couple of the seamen had come down with some sort of vile contagion.
