The governor hired a gnomist to update aphorisms pertaining to state business, and he cleverly pronounced that having a soothsayer to augur the future was a position that should be superannuated or filled with someone more useful, until a prognosticated warning about the stench of sulfurous fumes near capitol was ignored to the peril of all who worked there.
