Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 573
discalced, asseveration, wushu, gesticulate
Brother Matthias, of the Order of Discalced Carmelites and currently bound by a vow of silence, nevertheless came with us to the Hunan Restaurant where, despite the earnest asseverations of the staff concerning the establishment's strict prohibition of shoelessness, he settled himself at a table and managed to convey via an infelicitous combination of rudimentary sign language, grimaces, and highly original gesticulations that he wanted the Mushu Chicken, prompting a willful misunderstanding on the part of the servers, who later claimed he had said "wushu chicken" and who obliged by kicking him repeatedly and flinging him out into the street.
