Quandary Resolution 594
precatory, demure, suborn, torpor
Many would have considered the simple phrase “I was hoping that…” a precatory request at best but when uttered by Caligula there was nothing demure or suggestive about it and to fail to fulfill those hopes was a death sentence; but in the end it was that feigned torpor more than the capricious greed and murder that drove the subornation of the Praetorian Guard; for death and avarice were dignified but indifference was unbearable.
