Now, as it happens, the small measure of vodka sipped by Little Levy Balquhidder during the Speeches, was enough to make him sick into a special faience, a gift from Rasputin to Hickok, being used as a quaich, and his mum, Rilla, fast as a greyhound picked him up bodily and transported him to the family's car, parked on double yellow lines near the front door of The Ship, so he was home and tucked up in bed within twenty minutes of receiving the note from the hand of Sam Smiles; his mind was crystal clear and, once Rilla was safely downstairs, he took out his mobile phone and called Brother Lucifer: "I got your message," he said, "where is Columbine?" and his heart sank at the reply, "he's on Gor, or should I say, 'she' is on Gor, captured from Earth yesterday, and already Slave to a Merchant, a brutal bastard, we have to act quickly!" and Levy knew that he had no option but to act immediately if he was to have any chance to save his friend: "where are you?" and Brother Lucifer answered: "outside your house, how soon can you join me?" so Levy took the risk: "I can't come as I am, I'll have to leave Levy sleeping here, can you give me a body? how long will it take?" at which Lucifer suppressed a laugh: "with two of us, you should be back in time for breakfast, and yes, I can give you a human form, but it will be dangerous, it's a female person, I've persuaded her Spirit to give us eight hours, so she has gone to Antibes to join some friends, but needs to be back as herself in the morning," and the decision was inevitable and made instantly: "here I come!" and moments later, in a Police car parked opposite the Balquhidder's home, Cassie Charles opened her eyes, smiled at Lucifer – incongruously, in the form of blonde beefcake – and said: "let's go hunny, no time to waste!" and so they made the journey to Gor – Earth's Twin Planet, on the opposite side of the Sun, never visible from Earth, and with a Force Field which meant that it could not be seen from any of the Space Probes which had been launched from Earth; this was Levy's first visit to what he had always thought of as a Rogue Planet, an oversight by The Creator, or intended as a warning to others of what might have been, or might yet be, in many ways almost identical to Earth physically, climatically, but socially, an aberration: it had never progressed in the same way as the Humans on Earth had, although the Goreans, despite never having discovered or invented The Wheel, with none of the basic technologies found on Earth, had developed Space travel a thousand years earlier, and had been Teleporting for a century or more; there were different Tribes and several Castes, but with only a very few exceptions, Women were regarded as the lowest of all, regardless of birth, and were a highly saleable commodity; only the very lowest of Men didn't possess at least one female slave, and quite often a group of these Low-Caste men would club together and buy a cheap Slave-Woman to share; so discovering that Columbine had been abducted from Earth – one of the common practices to keep their Slave markets supplied – gave Cassie (as I suppose we should refer to the new form of Little Levy's Spirit, even if for only a few hours) serious concern; the others were: "am I sufficiently annealed to succeed? or will I end up a Slave of Gor myself?"
