Disquietude overcame the kapellmeister as he performed his organ fugue, thinking he heard the sounds of Hell in it, unaware that his mischievous apprentice had disported herself by doctoring the manuscript, vitiating its impeccable harmonies with parallel fifths and other musical taboos.
