When first indentured to the abusive smithy Belmont’s Panglossian life view was barely shaken for he was so swiftly affranchised by his ambilevous limitations that this was yet another example of this being the best of all possible worlds; but when he fell beneath the spell of the local slatterns coquetry and was unable to pay, it was her “manager” that convinced him that there were significant flaws in his philosophy.
