It was midway between waking and sleeping that he finally understood the connection between the tare weight of the company's new pick-up truck and its dangerous tendency to fishtail when loaded unevenly, when he had a hypnagogic vision of a fish skeleton (he had been boning trout that very morning!) resolving itself into an Ishikawa diagram which, by breaking down the problem in an entirely new way, immediately suggested a solution, and he rejoiced that they could now be well on their way to "Ricardo" becoming a metonym for "pick-up truck" as "Fleet Street" is for "the British press".
