Right on cue - for they were to be in Edinburgh Waverley by six - each ponderous badaud moved drowsily centre-pavement, blinked up at the Minster's magnificent Five Sisters Window, and snared its Gothic soul in megapixels before herding back down Stonegate, one straggler chastising the rubicund Town Crier for the unseemly bombast of his stridently reiterative 'Oyez! Oyez! Oyez!' as, complete with gaudy frock coat, bronzed bell and parchment scroll, he loudly proclaimed the imminent arrival of a scion of minor royalty.
