Quandary Resolution 843
ex cathedra, caldera, logomachy, fructuous
When she noticed one of us throwing a stone into the stream, one of the park visitors, who thought herself a ranger, spoke ex cathedra about how the runoff stream was part of the thermal feature, and then, as if she suddenly realized we were FOB's, launched into what turned out to be a fructuous lecture that helped us resolve our logomachy over geyser and geezer, hotpot and mudpot, fissure and seizure, crater (which is only the mouth of a volcano) and caldera (which is all the area that collapses around the crater, thus making Yellowstone one big caldera).
