Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 845
de jure, incandescent, abrupt, arcanum
In the Motherpeace Tarot deck the Major Arcanum XIII, "Death", is illustrated by a snake shedding its skin (as well as a skeleton lying peacefully on the ground in the fetal position), in what some find an unacceptably abrupt change from the conventional gestalt of the card, a charge which could probably be made against many of the cards in this deck - e.g., "The Magician", who is traditionally a very masculine Type-A personality but in this deck is the incandescent, dancing personification of solar energy - which may explain why Motherpeace is always, if not de jure at least de usu, interpreted by female poets.
