At the Plenary Session of the American Psychoanalytic Association’s winter meetings, where the world-renowned child analyst Dr. Ernie Humboldt delivered a ground-breaking paper on the Elektra Complex, he was met with some very hurtful ad hominem arguments (for instance, that he took anxiolytics and was quite overweight, so how could he possibly have any scientifically valid insights), causing such embarrassment to the heretofore cheerful and gregarious little man that he retired to his cabin in the Poconos, unplugged his Internet connection, and completely proscribed contact with professional colleagues for six months.
