Quandary Resolution 8697
picaro, mentalese, octothorpe, volcanello, n.

Sam Smiles, she mused, as she searched the bedroom swiftly, carefully, a picaro, he had said, a rogue, but a colleague, obviously a fellow Spynik, would he be coming to apply his mentalese? well, in a sense she was quite koshershe hadn't known where the journey would end, she had not planned to come herebut the fluke, the presence of not just one, but three of Mr Parkhill's other former students, that it could be random was scarcely credible, which meant it could not help but become suspicious, like sticking a pin into a map, while blindfold, then removing the blindfold and discovering that you have stuck it into Eyjafjallajökull, which is almost exactly what happened in 2010 when she shoved snow aside and stepped out to find herself face to face with an erupting volcanello, on Iceland of all places! no, no, no, she had thought at the time, this cannot be pure chance, someone is setting me up, it's either MacFarlane or the bloody Creator, whichever one hatesor fearsme the most, and then she opened the bottom drawer of an old wooden chest and saw the sheet of paper, covered in octothorpes, and all the noughts and crosses, recognised the hands, the colours of the pencils, remembered the game, but how, how the fuck of all the drawers, in all the rooms, in all the world, could this be possible?
