When a cabal of larcenous gourmands enacted their porcine plot, dispatching elite crews of truffle-sniffing pigs to vacuum the swankiest restaurant kitchens of Manhattan, waiters were forced to temporize, serving didactic disquisitions on the subtleties of Tuber magnatum, while hungry customers oinked impatiently, and chefs turned their talents to butchery.
