Quadrivial Quandary: Logophiles, Rejoice! Each day we give you four unusual words. Can you fit them all in one illustrative sentence?
Quandary Resolution 946
olla podrida, sleiveen, glower, potable
For all its ostensible variety, somehow I was beginning to tire of the menu's unchanging hodgepodge of salmagundi, goulash, macédoine, potpourri, olla podrida, smorgasbord, olio, gallimaufry, hash, and that mélange of other imponderable miscellanies exclusively on offer; but the chef glowered at me so long and hard when I quipped one evening that I would like - just for a change - to partake only of a medley of mangled comestibles freshly garnered from among the assorted garbage that cluttered the jumble of alleyways running behind his restaurant 'The Shady Cozener' that I quickly settled for the usual mishmash, washed down of course with a tot of mine sleiveen host's most potable poteen, failing which I doubt that I would have cared ever to cross the old rogue's threshold.
